The Newsboys’ Latest Album is Here to Bring Revival
By Movieguide® Contributor
The Newsboys’ Michael Tait wants the group’s latest album to bring revival into “the hearts of believers.”
“[The album is] chock-full of everything that God’s poured into my heart over the years,” Tait told The Christian Beat. “We just pray that God uses our earnest efforts and due diligence when it comes to writing songs to touch people’s hearts.”
The album, titled “Worldwide Revival (Pt. 1),” was released earlier this summer.
“We’ve spent a long time working on these songs,” the band wrote in an Instagram announcement for the two-part project. “It’s been a couple of years since our last album released. For some reason, with these songs, we just found ourselves wanting to take some more time. Every one of them has been prayed over and intentionally crafted to share the message that we feel called to share right now.”
In a statement about the album, the band shared, “’Worldwide Revival’ is a project that we’ve poured ourselves into for the last two years. It’s a little bit surreal to finally be releasing it to the world, but this collection of songs has been prayed over and intentionally crafted to share the message we feel God has put on our hearts in this season, and we’re proud to finally be sharing it. Our hope is that this music meets exactly the person that it needs to, and that it will spark ‘tiny revivals’ in the hearts of many.”
“We have this faith in our God that’s not dead,” Tait told TCB. “We believe it, we live it, and revival is going to start eventually. Revival will start in the hearts of believers — in our hearts, in our homes, around our neighborhoods — and then it will spread out. That’s what we pray for. These songs are just a reminder and a spark…the revival can break out any and everywhere, and that’s what’s going to happen.”
Movieguide® previously reported on the Newsboys’ hope to unite people with their music:
The Newsboys are encouraging their fans to disregard social and political differences and come together as they head back out on the road for their “Stand Together Tour.”
“It’s such a divided country nowadays,” band frontman Michael Tait told the Christian Post. “Divided over race, wars in other countries, the world’s in disarray, but the Bible tells us it was coming anyway. The more important question is, where do we stand in all of this? Where are our heads? Where are our hearts?”
The band is encouraging people to maintain love and hope, even in these tumultuous times.
“I think the best years are ahead of this. I don’t believe everything I see on mainstream media,” drummer Ducan Phillips said. “I’m not saying it’s not real, don’t get me wrong. I know it’s real, I know it’s really happening, but I think sometimes there’s a lot more going on. So be encouraged; God is good, we win in the end, it’s all good.”
The Newsboys are also urging their fans to make connections, instead of focusing on their differences.
“I think you’ve got to become a lover of people,” Phillips said. “When you become a lover of people, these things don’t matter as much. I don’t think we’re as divided as we’re led to believe…what I’m called to do is love you, is to go out to all the world, preach the Gospel with love. I think there’s a lot more that connects us than doesn’t.”
