SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE has been a hit on Netflix in recently.

The movie, which won the Best Animated Feature Award at the Oscars, has trended on Netflix’s Top 10 Movies list for over two weeks, Screen Rant reports.

The sequel, SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, available on Disney+, is also getting a lot of attention. It was in Disney+’s Top 10 movies list this past week.

Both of the movies were nominated for a Movieguide® Teddy Bear Award®.

Part of Movieguide®’s review of INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE reads, “SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE is a terrific, enjoyable animated adventure with clever, funny writing. The story’s energy seldom stalls. The movie has lots of cartoon action violence and some light slapstick violence.”

“Some of the action violence is intense, so caution is advised for children,” the review continues. “Otherwise, the movie is family-friendly… Its redemptive pro-family themes extol love, sacrifice, forgiveness, doing the right thing, saving others, and getting a second chance.”

Screen Rant writer Lewis Glazebrook said ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE was a success for the same reasons.

“Much like the first movie, SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE never loses sight of the true humanity at the center of its story… The filmmakers manage to strike a perfect balance of humanity with dazzling visuals, allowing the story to be one of the more satisfying Spider-Man stories ever told,” he said.

Production for the third movie, BEYOND THE SPIDER-VERSE, is currently underway, slated a June 2027 release date. It was originally scheduled to release in March 2024 but got delayed due to production setbacks and the SAG-AFTRA strikes.

At CinemaCon 2025, co-directors Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson said, “We know how important this franchise is to so many people around us. We just could not run it back. So, we decided we needed to take the time to make sure we got it just right.”

In an interview with Deadline, Brian Tyree Henry, who voices Spider-Man Miles Morales’ father, teased, “It’s in the works, it’s coming. It’s in the works for sure and that one is even more epic than the last. You know how we do it. Oh yeah, get your hankies ready. It’s gonna go there.”

The movies are a hit right now because people know they’re good, high-quality stories that the whole family can watch together. Plus, it will be a year and a half before the third movie comes out, so they’ve got to have something to tide them over until then.
