THESE STONES Actor Puts His Faith ‘Before Everything’
By Movieguide® Contributor
Actor Cameron Arnett says his role in the upcoming show THESE STONES is “a gift.”
“I’m so grateful,” he told Movieguide® of his part in the show. “[Cheryl McKay] is allowing us to really bring the humanity to the scriptural aspect of it. It’s a joy. It’s a gift to play that kind of character.”
THESE STONES follows “a young woman [who] gets drawn into a supernatural system with Bible characters working undercover to help people today,” according to the show’s website.
Arnett remarked on the humor of the show, saying, “God allows us to gain knowledge of Him through humor, [so] it’s just a wonderful thing. I can’t wait for people to really dig into it.”
“It’s scriptural, but it’s funny and quirky at the same time, and so we get to laugh at ourselves, we get to laugh at them, and we get to kind of go through the whole journey with each other as an audience and with the characters,” he continued.
A portion of the Movieguide® review for THESE STONES reads:
THESE STONES tells imaginative, well-acted stories. The stories are full of overt Christian elements and valuable biblical lessons about trusting God. With each episode, THESE STONES shows Bible characters helping people in the real world, teaching them moral and spiritual truths about love, courage, faith, and peace. The production values in THSES STONES are low budget, but the performances convey uplifting messages. MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution due to theological issues and scenes depicting and describing death.
Arnett also spoke about his own faith and how it influences his career as an actor.
“Personal faith is everything,” he said. “Your relationship to Christ as your Lord, as your Savior, as your King, is paramount to everything. It is before everything.”
The actor explained, “I get the joy out of playing Aaron, I get the joy out of the film and everything else, but the fulfillment is in being able to be in the word and have the creator of the universe speak to you.”
In addition to his role in THESE STONES, Arnett also recently starred in THE FORGE, a spin-off of the Kendrick Brothers’ WAR ROOM.
“THE FORGE is a picture into all of our lives,” he told CHVN Radio. “We’ve all been Isaiah, not knowing where we’re going and having questions about who we are. By the grace of God, he runs into a gentleman named Joshua Moore who is mature and seasoned as a Christian. Joshua takes him under his wing and they go through the process of growth. We get to see what discipleship looks like when someone who has the heart of God imparts to someone younger and begins to listen.”
He continued, “My wife and I pastored for almost two decades. My heart is discipleship. We did that for so many years within the four walls and to see God take us from the four walls to now a picture of discipleship, what an honor. When I look at Joshua and Janelle, I look at Cameron and BJ as the same people. It resonated right off the bat, there was no what-if. I believe we were made to play these roles.”
