LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE actor Linwood Boomer is “all for” Netflix’s upcoming adaptation of the popular book series.
“I think it’s awesome,” he told Collider. “I’m all for it.”
Boomer, who played Adam Kendall, continued, “I know the world of it is completely different. It’s much closer to the books. Michael Landon just had that thing of that family and then just ran with it. It was a great thing for what it was, but it wasn’t what the books were, which was a little bit grimmer of a life.”
“To me, I think it’s much more appropriate now because I think people understand that vocabulary, that things can sort of be grim and really tough, and you can still have that loving family in that situation, and it still works,” he finished.

Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura Ingalls in the original series, shared her excitement about the reboot in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
“These are classic stories, and no one’s done it where they hewed to the books completely,” she said. “[The original] was Michael Landon’s interpretation, and now it’s time for someone else’s interpretation. And I think there’s plenty of room for that. And I think there’s a lot of other stories to mine beyond that. So I think this opens the door in a lot of ways for all kinds of Little House on the Prairie projects.”
Netflix is putting their full support behind the LITTLE HOUSE series; the streamer has already greenlit a second season.

With its hopeful spirit and emotional authenticity, we’re confident that LITTLE HOUSE will deliver even more of what fans truly love.”
Sonnenshine added, “I’m incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive. We can’t wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and we’re thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.”
LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE premieres on Netflix July 9.
