Former WHEN CALLS THE HEART star Marcus Rosner is opening up about the injury he feared might end his acting career.

Rosner suffered two torn hamstring muscles in 2021, but the injury was misdiagnosed, and the actor wasn’t aware of the true extent of it until months later.

He struggled to find a doctor who would perform the surgery that would fix the injury because of the procedure’s high-risk factor.

“Eventually, in the summer, I found a highly qualified surgeon in Toronto willing to do the 5 hour procedure,” Rosner wrote in an Instagram post. “On Nov. 16th, 2022, after my surgeon tried to talk me out of it a few times, I went under the knife and woke up to find him standing over me. My leg was all bandaged up and my head was pounding. He asked me to move my toes…and I did. ‘Good.’ he said…right before telling me he would never attempt that surgery again.”

In another post, Rosner wrote about his fears that the injury would impact not only his daily life but also his acting career.

“There were times when I wasn’t sure if I’d ever be able to walk right again,” Rosner continued. “I was afraid to draw attention to this for fear of being seen as damaged goods by our industry (even lost at least one job along the way).”

He continued, “What this experience has shown me is just how privileged I am. I had access to one of the best surgeons in the country. I got to pick a surgery date that worked well for my schedule. I have the good fortune to be able to take a few months off my feet without it affecting my income (mostly). I have the money to afford top end equipment, private hospital rooms, and regular physiotherapy.”

“And most of all I have a companion in life to help see me through it all,” he concluded, referring to his wife, Alison Kroeker.

Rosner went on to say that overall, his recovery has been “a peaceful experience,” adding, “I’m proud of myself, and by no means was this easy, but everyday I thought about how much harder it would be for so many other folks without the advantages I have.”
