Hang on a second — was that really Chip Gaines in the latest episode of ROCK THE BLOCK?

“Is that @chipgaines twin brother?” someone joked in the comments of an Instagram clip HGTV posted of a recent episode of ROCK THE BLOCK.

In the video, a man who very closely resembles Chip is seen carrying a countertop as designer Alison Victoria works on remodeling a bathroom.

“Looks like Chip’s Brother! (Younger) Lol,” another fan commented, while someone else wrote, “I’m not the only one who thought the same thing! I was questioning why Chip is working with Alison.”

While we’re not sure who this mystery Chip-lookalike is, it’s safe to say it wasn’t him — or his identical twin. The former HGTV star has just one sibling, a sister named Shannon Braun.

Chip might have some extra time on his hands these days to cameo in other HGTV projects, though. His wife and business partner, Joanna, recently announced she would be working on a new series, MINI RENI, without Chip.

“What I love about MINI RENI is the freedom to go all-in on just one or two smaller spaces,” Joanna said in a press release about the show, which sees her help redesign rooms and spaces, rather than entire houses.

She continued, “These aren’t whole-house renovations, so the heart behind the show is to inspire people to design their home gradually and thoughtfully, so that instead of having to wrap your mind around the million details that go into a bigger renovation, you can enjoy the process of creating beauty by narrowing in, flexing your creativity, and embracing the small details that really tell your story.”

Joanna spoke about MINI RENI further in an interview with TV Insider, explaining, “Helping people make their spaces feel special and personal has always been at the heart of what I love, long before FIXER UPPER, back when it was just the Little Shop on Bosque. And with MINI RENI, I saw the opportunity to show people that having a home you love and one that tells your story doesn’t have to be a matter of renovating every room, and that sometimes it’s these smaller spaces that have the biggest impact.”

While Chip won’t be co-hosting alongside his wife, he’s still very much a part of the project; both he and Joanna are producers on MINI RENI.

It’s unknown when Chip will return to our TV screens, but this glimpse of his lookalike made many HGTV fans do a double-take — and wonder if a ROCK THE BLOCK cameo could be in the cards. Only time will tell!
