‘We Celebrate This Landmark Decision’: Alex and Stephen Kendrick Praise Supreme Court Decision to Overturn Roe V. Wade

By Movieguide® Staff

Filmmakers Alex and Stephen Kendrick praised the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe V. Wade on June 24, 2022.

“We have recently learned about the Supreme Court’s decision to rule in favor of the unborn and so we celebrate this landmark decision and and we are just grateful but a lot of work still needs to be done,” Alex Kendrick said.

Stephen added: “I was born in 1973 when Roe v. Wade happened. Since then, millions of people have prayed for years in defense of the unborn. Well, let us be clear, Scripture is very clear that we are made in the image of God. Jeremiah 1 says, ‘Even before we’re born, God knows us in our mother’s womb.’

“Psalm 139, ‘We’re fearfully and wonderfully made,” Stephen continued. “Proverbs 31 says, ‘We should speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves who are destined for destruction.’ We praise God over this decision. But as Alex just said, so much work has to be done. This is an amazing opportunity for the church to rise up and not only support women in crisis pregnancies, as we’ve said, but after they have babies, that we’re going to support them. We’re going to support adoption. We’re going to rise up and be the hands and feet of Jesus for such a time as this.”

The brothers will soon premiere their new movie, LIFEMARK, which is based on a true story about adoption.

“About two years ago … we learned of a true story where someone made this brave decision to choose adoption over abortion. That child was raised in a believing home and met the biological mother and they reconnected it was a beautiful story. We’re just grateful that we see how the ground is being tilled and work is being done. And so we’re grateful for this decision from the Supreme Court,” Alex said.

The brothers believe that God ordained LIFEMARK for such a time as this.

“We know that this is divine timing,” Stephen said. “With every film that we make, we spend months in prayer. The Lord told us to make this movie having no idea this decision would be coming. So in September, we want to encourage churches, any anyone that supports life, to leverage LIFEMARK to your advantage because it reminds you that this is a good decision.

“What the Supreme Court has done it reminds you that the unborn are worth defending, and it also promotes adoption in a beautiful way. This is not a movie that’s about beating up abortion. This is a movie about providing hope, and it promotes adoption and reconciliation. So please use LIFEMARK right now in your churches. To promote adoption. Use the ministries associated with this, to defend the unborn to continue to do that. And let’s rise up as the body of Christ with one voice with celebration in support of the Supreme Court and also in support of the families within our communities that need the support,” Stephen said.
