Actor Milo Ventimiglia shared what he believes audiences will learn from watching I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 and how it will help viewers have hard conversations and take an honest look at their lives.
“Hopefully this film can kind of put people back in line with conversations that maybe are tough to have. You know, fathers and sons by example of this film. I think, hopefully people can push through those tough times” Ventimiglia told Movieguide®.

“Tim Timmons going through, you know, cancer but still here, you know, 20 years later, plus after a cancer diagnosis that was only a couple years [to live] to be able to live through that positively and lead people with goodness,” he continued. “I just hope it creates connection and gives people a chance to plug in the message of the film into their own lives.”
The movie serves as a sequel to the 2018 movie I CAN ONLY IMAGINE, telling more of the story behind the band MercyMe. The movie focuses on stories of resilience, prioritizing family and searching for success in a biblical way, rather than as the world teaches. A portion of Movieguide®’s review reads:
I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 is a beautiful, powerful, wonderfully acted movie of faith and family. The movie has many dramatic, emotional, uplifting moments. The musical interludes beautifully portray the story’s high points, character arcs and spiritual themes. All these elements reflect a strong Christian, moral worldview. I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 contains some great musical interludes. It continues the original movie’s emotional, uplifting, redemptive Christian themes and values.
Director Andrew Erwin, who directed the first movie as well, is excited to return to this story and continue to share the journey that MercyMe went on while creating some of the most recognizable Christian songs of their era.
“So one of the things that I’m really happy about with the new movie, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2, is to be able to tell Tim Timmons’ story,” Erwin said. “There’s something really special about his life, philosophy of gratitude. And he makes a statement every day with this, with a sharpie, writes an X on his wrist, and it’s just his way of marking another day that God woke him up, a day he wasn’t promised and being able to say, ‘I’m grateful for that, and thank you.’”
I CAN ONLY IMAGINE 2 is in theaters now, sharing this incredible, inspiring story with audiences across the country.
