WHEN CALLS THE HEART’s Jack Wagner Thanks Fans for Support After Son’s Death

By Movieguide® Contributor

Actor Jack Wagner recently gave a shoutout to WHEN CALLS THE HEART fans for their support as he heads to Vancouver to start filming the tenth season of the hit Hallmark series.

In an Instagram video of himself at the airport, Wager said, “Thank you all so much for the love and kindness that you’ve sent. I can’t tell you how much it’s meant to me.”

The actor went on to say that he was “beyond excited and grateful” to start work on Season 10 of WHEN CALLS THE HEART and thanked fans again “for the love and support you’ve sent me.”

In addition to starting work again, Wagner is also dealing with the loss of his son Harrison.

Movieguide® previously reported:

GENERAL HOSPITAL and WHEN CALLS THE HEART star Jack Wagner’s son Harrison was found dead in a Los Angeles parking lot earlier this week. He was 27 years old.

Harrison was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:14 a.m. on Monday morning. The cause of death is still under investigation and is currently listed as “deferred.”

Per Fox News, “Deferred means that after an autopsy, a cause of death has not been determined and the medical examiner is requesting more investigation into the death, including additional studies. Once the tests/studies come back, the doctor evaluates the case again and makes the cause of death determination.”

Harrison has struggled with drug addiction in the past, but it is unclear whether his substance abuse issues had anything to do with his death.

“I fear for my youngest son’s safety. Harrison has struggled with drugs & alcohol just as I did when I was younger,” Wagner previously said during one of Harrison’s relapses.

Harrison’s mother is soap star Kristina Wagner.

Her last Instagram featured both her sons as they left the family ranch house.

“A bittersweet farewell to the place we called Wagner Ranch for 25 years. The prickly beauty of the high desert and a landscape surrounded by national forests always reminded us that there is peace when you are willing to look for it. Oh Ranch, it’s time to part. We’ll miss you so much with our heartwarming memories. We know that there are many opportunities for joy ahead. #grateful #PeterandHarrison #lovemysons,” Kristina posted.

Please keep the Wagner family in your prayers at this time.

Movieguide® also reported on the anticipation surrounding the upcoming season of WHEN CALLS THE HEART:

Hallmark renewed WHEN CALLS THE HEART for its tenth season and also announced plans to bring on a new showrunner.

WHEN CALLS THE HEART recently hired Lindsay Sturman, known for series like SUPERGIRL and TEEN WOLF, who has over 15 years of experience in the business.

“WHEN CALLS THE HEART continues to push the limits as to what we can achieve with this show,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, Crown Media Family Networks’ executive vice president of programming, in a statement about the show’s renewal. “There are many more stories still to be told about the lives of the beloved characters in this series and we cannot wait for everyone at home to tune in to see what unfolds.”

Laurie Ferneau, the senior vice president of development at Crown Media Family Networks, echoed Daly’s enthusiasm, adding, “We are also excited to welcome to the family our new showrunner, Lindsay Sturman, who brings her immense talent to the show.”

WHEN CALLS THE HEART star and executive producer Erin Krakow is equally excited about the show’s tenth season.

“I am thrilled that WHEN CALLS THE HEART is coming back for a tenth season,” she shared. “With our amazing cast, crew, and talented writers, we can look forward to more adventures, laughs, tears, and stories of romance throughout the community of Hope Valley. We are so excited for all the viewers, especially the Hearties, to continue this journey with us!”
