Why Emily Blunt, Sandra Bullock and Salma Hayek Chose Family Over Career

Emily Blunt is one of many Hollywood stars who has decided to put family over her career.

“This year I’m not working,” Blunt recently announced. “I worked quite a bit last year, and my oldest baby is 9, so we’re in the last year of single digits. And I just feel there are cornerstones to their day that are so important when they’re little.”

The Movieguide® Award-nominated A QUIET PLACE PART II actress also said she would stop taking “time-consuming” projects “because of just the emotional cost on me [and] on the kids.”

THE BLIND SIDE actress Sandra Bullock is also taking a break from acting.

“I just want to be 24/7 with my babies and my family,” the actress explained. “That’s where I’m gonna be for a while.”

PUSS IN BOOTS: THE LAST WISH actress Salma Hayek shared similar feelings when asked if she would star in a show like HBO’s WHITE LOTUS.

“It’s hard for me to do series because I’m still very present with my daughter and my husband and my dogs and the house,” she said during an appearance on the podcast “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa.”

“And so I can’t, even though I’m trying to carve out more space, I can’t like say, ‘OK, bye. I’m gonna do a series. See you in three months, in four months.’ I just can’t,” she explained.

Movieguide® previously reported on other actors that have decided to step back from their careers for a little while to focus on family, including BREAKING BAD’s Bryan Cranston:

BREAKING BAD star Bryan Cranston recently announced his plans to retire from the entertainment industry and focus on his marriage.

Cranston told GQ that it’s time to “change the paradigm” in his relationship with wife Robin Dearden.

“For the last 24 years, Robin has led her life holding onto my tail,” he explained. “She’s been the plus one, she’s been the wife of a celebrity. She’s had to pivot and adjust her life based on mine. She has tremendous benefit from it, but we’re uneven. I want to level that out. She deserves it.”

He continued, “I love my wife, and we want to go the distance, but I want to do it in a healthy way. I don’t want to just be with her. I don’t want to just have the two of us go into a restaurant and no one says a word.”
