Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder and World Series champion Alex Call wants his fans to know what Jesus means to him.
“Yeah, Jesus is my foundation, my rock. He’s really the motivation because of what He’s done for me on the cross as being Savior and Lord of my life,” Call declared on the “Sports Spectrum” podcast. “I’m just moved in my heart to try to be like Him and to try, like my teammate,Blake Treinen said a couple weeks ago, you know, make heaven crowded.”
“I want my light to shine because I understand what Jesus has done for me, and I want other people to see Jesus in me,” the athlete emphasized. “And so that’s my goal every day I’m with my teammates, with my friends and family, and no matter what I’m doing.”

When fans ask for his autograph on baseball cards, Call always includes Matthew 5:16: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
“You know, so letting that light shine for Him, it’s really what I’m all about. And Jesus has completely taken over my heart and has moved me to try and do that each and every day,” he said.

Call won his first-ever World Series title this past season with the Dodgers, taking to Instagram afterwards to thank God for the win.
“What an unbelievable ride and journey it has been to get here. I truly enjoyed every second of it and still can’t believe it! Thank you to everyone who has reached out to congratulate us!” Call wrote.
“All I can say is Praise God,” he continued. “It’s a ride that only He alone could have orchestrated. Everyone has ups and downs throughout their careers and life, and I’m no different. There were certainly times that even though I still believed fully in myself, I wasn’t sure I was going to get an opportunity to make it to the major leagues, let alone win a World Series. Through the struggles and injuries, the one constant in my life was Jesus. In my alone time with Him, I found peace and joy regardless of the circumstances.”
“I love sitting here as a World Series champ looking back at my journal and remembering the hard times and reading the encouragement that I would feel from reading the Bible and praying,” the outfielder added. “I have been able to praise Him in the good times and the bad because I know that my eternity is sealed in Him, because He died on the cross for me. I don’t need baseball to be happy because my happiness and joy are secure in Jesus, and I pray that everyone who reads this would know Him and feel that same peace.”
We applaud Call and his mission to “make heaven crowded” as he uses his platform to honor and glorify Christ.
