Why GAF is ‘Proud’ to Support ‘Faith, Family and Country’

Great American Family CEO Bill Abbott is sharing the importance of providing positive, uplifting content, especially at a time when negative content dominates TV and movies.

“We’ve found through the years there’s no ceiling on positivity and no ceiling on feel-good movies,” Abbott said in an interview with Crosswalk.

He explained that their 2023 merger with Pure Flix “gave us the latitude and the license, really, to be more faith-driven on the linear side,” referring to their cable channel.

“It was always our goal to be supporting the pillars of faith, family, country. It’s how the business was founded — the principles on which it’s founded,” Abbott said. “But then when you add Pure Flix to the mix, it was just natural that we really lean into it.”

He added, “Quite frankly, there’s just very little content out there that focuses on those areas. So [we were] very proud to do that, and the results have been great.”

“We’re taking the point of view that is very rarely seen in entertainment, which is supportive of the values of faith, family, and country, and being uplifting around faith, family, and country,” Abbott explained. “We think it’s very important, for the culture, to really create content that way. And then above and beyond that, [to create content that is] just entertaining, high-quality stories that make you feel good, that are never in any way salacious or gratuitous. [Fans] want something that they can watch and feel good about.”

In an interview with Texas CEO Magazine, Abbott spoke about the importance of connecting with the network’s fans.

“One of the most rewarding parts of my job is to read viewer emails,” he shared. “Our viewers know what they want and it’s our job to give them a great uplifting experience free of the stress and contentiousness of their already overly complex world.”

Candace Cameron Bure, who has starred in and produced many GAF movies, is also the channel’s chief creative officer. She told Fox News that she, Abbott and the rest of the GAF team “want to create an oasis in a cultural desert.”

Bure has previously spoken about her partnership with GAF and how she enjoys celebrating their shared values.
