Why Russell Brand Loves This Book of the Bible

Russell Brand explained why the events in the book of Acts make him excited about the trajectory of Christianity.

“The book of Acts is the book that made me become Christian because what it has is the feeling of people that are dealing with the death and resurrection of Christ and having had it revealed to them that reality is not what they thought it was,” Brand said. “I find it harder, I suppose, to identify with actually meeting a physical Jesus like the people in the Gospels are doing. Their accounts of the Gospels are like they’re meeting Jesus, they’re seeing Jesus do miracles. In the book of Acts what’s happening is people are living in the immediate aftermath, and I feel like that’s kinda what we need now.”

He then read a passage from Acts 2, just after Pentecost:

When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language?

“I love this because I learned the other day that Christ finally went from saying, ‘My time has not yet come,’ to, ‘My time has come,’ when He heard there were Greeks, which is sort of a euphemism for foreigners in those days, hanging out in Jerusalem. He knew, wow, if the message happens now, it’s gonna spread far and fast.”

“I think we’re in a time like that right now where people are waking up to Christianity. Do you feel it too? Do you feel that Christianity is spreading again…” Brand added.

“What we could be living through now is a moment of total revolution when people suddenly start realizing, ‘Oh my God, it’s real. Jesus is real. It actually happened.’ And start realizing that the material world ain’t gonna start providing solutions, but there is a solution available to all of us. That’s why I love the book of Acts.”

Brand’s own story with Christianity certainly follows this path. He eventually realized that Christ offered the wholeness that he sought in the material world. Since he decided to dive head first into his faith last April, he has been on fire for Jesus, throwing off his New Age beliefs and practices for a genuine relationship with the Lord.

He now uses his platform to point his fans towards Christ and discuss the new things he is learning every week about Christianity.

“Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life,” he posted on X last week.

“The material world ain’t gonna provide solutions for you,” Brand said in another post. “But Jesus will.”
