Why This Former NFL Pro Says ‘You Need the Right People’ in Your Life

Former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow is sharing why it’s important to have “the right people” around you.
“You need the right people to be around you. Why? Because you don’t know everything,” Tebow explained in a video clip on Instagram. “Man, I tell you what. I’ve screwed up so many times.”
“I messed up so many times, been stupid so many times. I’ve fallen short so many times,” he continued. “Do you know how many times I need other people to say, ‘We got your back?’”
Tebow thrived with the support of good people in his life. They “picked” him up, encouraged him, guided and helped him.
“We’re not meant to do this on our own. Will you invest in having the right people around you?” Tebow asked. “See, you don’t just go faster, but you go further. So you don’t just have some success, but you actually have some relationships that are gonna last. Will you surround yourself with the right people?”
He captioned his post:
“He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.” Proverbs 13:20
“Building success isn’t a solo mission- it’s about who you surround yourself with. We all need people to pick us up, to encourage us, to convict us, or to challenge us. In Proverbs, Solomon encourages his sons to seek wise counsel, and to lean on them. So, will you invest in surrounding yourself with the right people?”
For Tebow, his mom is one of the good people in his life. He said some of the best advice he’s ever gotten was from her. She told him to take all of his disappointment and give it to God, and since then, that’s what he’s done.
“You’ll never silence the critics,” he said. “There will always be people in your life who will underestimate your potential, say that you’ll never reach your dream or make that goal, or try to hold you back in some way. What God knows about us is more important than what others think.”
Movieguide® recently reported how Tebow advocates against sexual abuse:
“What do you tell someone what love looks like when their dad was the first person to abuse them? There are a lot of boys and girls that are suffering at the hands of those that have been called with the responsibility to protect them,” Tebow said in an Instagram video. “Out of the majority of these studies it looks like around 80% of those that are abusing these boys and girls are doing it from their trusted circle. Mom, dad, coach, pastor, chaplain, teacher, babysitter, someone in their trusted circle is doing this.”
He continued, “That’s also why it’s so important because who do you go to? Who does a boy or girl go to if the person they’re supposed to trust is the person that’s abusing them? That’s also why there is such an urgency with this because they have no one to go to. No one to ask for help. Well guess what? Maybe we can give them someone that they can ask for help because maybe that person is going to show up on their front door.”
To do this, the former NFL star joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers earlier this week to unveil the Renewed Hope Act of 2024.
Tebow has recently been very vocal about the harms of sex trafficking. At an event, he shared a very disturbing conversation between sexual predators, who were parents themselves, in order to gain favor for the Renewed Hope Act.
Tebow urged:
Right now boys and girls are hurting all over the world…Images and videos of them living their worst moments are being circulated online. Offenders are celebrating it…Meditating on it…Focusing on it…While these children are reliving it over and over again. Does your heart break for these boys and girls?
Raise your voice and urge your representatives to co-sponsor the Renewed Hope Act of 2024 and prioritize the protection of children who are being sexually abused and exploited and are waiting to be identified and rescued.
