WNBA Star Aliyah Boston Chosen As All-Star Starter: ‘God Is So Good’

By Movieguide® Contributor

WNBA star Aliyah Boston praised God after being chosen as a starter for the WNBA’s All-Star Game.

“Another blessing,” she tweeted about the news. “God is so good all the time.”

Boston plays for the Indiana Fever and has already built a reputation as a player to watch. She was the first overall pick in the WNBA’s draft and averages at least 15 points, eight rebounds, and 1.5 blocked shots per game.

Boston also has the highest field-goal percentage of any qualified WNBA player (65.1%) and ranks in the top 10 in rebounding and blocks.

Throughout all her success on the court, Boston has shared her Christian faith and given the glory to God.

After being drafted, she told ESPN, “I’m thankful, first, to God just for putting me in this position, but also thankful to everybody in Indiana, just because they saw something in me and I’m just ready to get there and get to work.”

Boston also leans on her faith during losses, too. After a college loss in the Final Four, the basketball star reminded viewers that “God is good. And He works.”

“I hope that all the little girls and boys that want to take pictures with me can see God through me because He’s the reason for all of this,” she continued. “No matter what happens, no matter how it happens, He is the reason for it all, and His plan is greater than ours.”

Boston isn’t the only WNBA player who puts her faith in God. Movieguide® previously reported on WNBA star and Olympian Kelsey Plum’s Christian faith:

Plum was drafted no. 1 overall by the WNBA’s San Antonio Silver Stars in 2017. At the time, Plum revealed that her transition to the professional league was difficult.

“I kind of had to go through life and figure out what’s important,” Plum told Sports Spectrum in 2019. “It takes a lot of failure and mistakes and humility to be able to see that I need a relationship with God.”

Throughout the physical and spiritual trials, the 26-year-old athlete continues to trust that God has an ultimate plan for her life.

“I’m super grateful because I think that He’s always really been very precise about exactly where He wanted me to be and He’s put certain people in my life to really help me,” Plum said in an interviewin 2020. “I’m just super grateful, so I think for me, as I continue to grow into a woman and a woman of faith, I try to make sure that I’m a light.”

The All-Star Game will take place in Las Vegas on July 15. Fans can’t wait to see Boston dominate on the court!
