World-Renowned Tattoo Artist Kat Von D Throws Out Witchcraft Books: ‘There Is a Spiritual Battle’

By Movieguide® Contributor

Kat Von D, a world-renowned tattoo artist and TV star, opened up in a recent Instagram post about throwing out books on witchcraft, magic and the macabre to fight the spiritual battle.

“I’ve always found beauty in the macabre, but at this point, I just had to ask myself what is my relationship with this content? And the truth is, I just don’t want to invite any of these things into our family’s lives, even if it comes disguised in beautiful covers, collecting dust on my shelves,” she said.

She opened her post, reflecting, “I don’t know if any of you have been going through changes in your lives right now, but in the last few years I’ve come to some pretty meaningful realizations—many of them revolving around the fact that I got a lot of things wrong in my past.”

Because of that realization, Von D went through her library and threw out every book on witchcraft, magic, the macabre, and tarot cards because they “don’t align” with her anymore.

The former makeup mogul, known for her gothic aesthetic, explained, “In no way is this post designed to put anyone down if you’re into this stuff, because I think we are all on our own journey.”

“But right now, it’s never been more clear to me that there is a spiritual battle taking place, and I want to surround myself and my family with love and light,” she added.

This comes after several significant life changes for Von D and her family. In January 2020, she sold her shares of her makeup company and began covering up her tattoos.

In December of that year, she and her family bought a home in Indiana to escape California’s “terrible policies, tyrannical government overreach, ridiculous taxing, amongst so much more corruption.”

She continued, “we just felt the need to plant roots in a small town where there is nature, where my son can be free to play, and where we can eventually retire one day.”

She also recently closed her famous LA tattoo parlor and listed her California mansion for over $12 million.

Von D concluded her post, encouraging her followers to make “meaningful changes” in their lives. For her, that means engaging in the spiritual battle by throwing out books that bring darkness into her home and instead surrounding her family with “love and light.”

Continue to pray for Kat Von D and her family as she continues to confront the spiritual darkness she lived with for so long.
