After the Indiana Hoosiers beat reigning National Champions, the Ohio State Buckeyes, to secure the Big 10 Championship on Saturday night, wide receiver Charlie Becker gave God all the glory for the unbelievable win.

“You know, it all started from the summer workouts when we all came together and we had a brotherhood,” Becker said before deflecting the glory onto God. “You know, we’re all really close, and that’s what creates a good culture and a good team. It’s what the coaches came in here and did. They created a great culture and, you know, we were so blessed to be able to come out here, and all glory to God. You know, without Him, none of this would be possible. So, all glory to Him.”

As a wide receiver, Becker and his quarterback, Fernando Mendoza, need to have a solid connection. Becker described that connection as “amazing.”

“As soon as Fernando got here, me and his brother, we’ve been roommates since our freshman year when we first got here,” the athlete shared. “So, as soon as his brother got here, you know, we were already super close. And every single spring at 5:30, 6:00 in the morning, we would go to the indoor, work on that connection, and it’s amazing to see it pay off.”

Becker describes himself as Christian and has 1 Corinthians 16:13 in his Instagram bio. The verse reads, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

The wide receiver also shares his faith throughout his posts.

“The Lord is my shepherd; whom shall I fear?” he wrote in one post.

In another, he said, “I know He got me.”

Becker ended Saturday night with six completions for a total of 126 yards. Mendoza also went “15 of 23 for 222 yards and the one TD and one interception,” per ESPN.

Late in the fourth quarter, Indiana needed to keep their playoff hopes alive, so Mendoza “hit Charlie Becker for a 33-yard gain to keep the drive alive. Indiana drained the clock inside 30 seconds from there,” per CBS Sports.

With their win over Ohio State, the Hoosiers will make their first playoff appearance as the No. 1 seed for the first time in program history.

Indiana will have a bye for the first round of the College Football Playoffs. They will face the winner of the Alabama vs. Oklahoma game in the second round. The Hoosiers are hungry to propel themselves to the top, and as Becker said, “Indiana is here to stay.”
