Former Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson can take on the NFL with confidence, knowing his identity is secure in Jesus Christ.
“I know where I’m going,” he said on an episode of “The Walk” podcast. “I have full confidence knowing where I’m going. That’s how I see it. We’re His children, and we’re here to spread His Word because of what He did. But at the same time, if the Lord Jesus comes back tomorrow, like in Revelation, and the earth dissolves like that, I know what’s going to happen.”
“The question is, do you?” the quarterback asked.

Throughout his entire college career, Simpson leaned on his father, Jason, who often sends his son scriptures each morning. The athlete said those verses really challenged his faith and understanding that life isn’t about himself.
“It really kind of opened my eyes because I was like, ‘No, I’m not,’” the NFL prospect told CBN Sports. “I was more focused on how people saw me as a football player and how people perceived me as an athlete instead of how people saw me as a Christian and a person. I was living a type of way that I knew was wrong, but it was the one that I wanted to do.”
Jason has always been a spiritual mentor for Simpson. He remembers asking his father what it means to put his faith in Jesus Christ and how that impacts his eternity in heaven.
“It’s the greatest feeling in the world,” Simpson said on “The Walk” podcast. “Throwing a touchdown pass, getting married, none of that really matters compared to giving your life to Christ.”
“I remember that pew that day. I tugged my dad’s khakis and I was like, ‘Yeah, I want to go up and talk to my pastor.’ We went up to talk to the pastor, took the steps forward, got saved and baptized later in the next couple of weeks. I remember it like it was yesterday just because it was a big step in my life and means a lot to me and that’s kind of how I am the person [that I am] today because of that,” Simpson continued.
His faith keeps him steady as he heads into the NFL Draft.
“I think it goes with my faith,” he said, per Fox News Digital. “My faith is very important to me. I fully believe that my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins, and knowing that football is just a minor stepping stone in why I’m on this Earth, I feel like I’m on this Earth for a bigger reason: to get people together to spread the word. The fact that I can do that on a huge stage, the Lord has blessed me in so many ways, that just gives me confidence.”
“I get to play a kid’s game for fun, but I also know that everybody’s watching every move that I make. Understanding that I can impact so many people’s lives by spreading the good news,” he added.
Simpson knows that no matter what, his identity is in Christ, which is the most important part of his life.
