LOVE ON THE SPECTRUM star Madison Marilla shared all the details about her engagement to fiancé Tyler White.
“I didn’t know what to expect,” she said during an episode of “The Squeeze” podcast, recalling that White took her to the site of their first date, Florida’s Sunken Gardens, on the one-year anniversary of that date, where he proposed.
Another surprise? “I had no idea our families were hiding in the bushes this whole time,” Marilla shared.

Her dad Brennan added, “We heard it happen. I didn’t see it happen until yesterday when I watched the show. It was beautiful. I mean, it was very emotional to watch. So proud of them. We kind of popped out of the bushes afterward and gave them a big hug. We were so proud of them.”
He also shared the “really sweet moment” White asked for approval to propose to Marilla, a scene that was ultimately cut from the episode.
“Tyler was really, really sweet. We had a great conversation,” Brennan said, joking, “Maybe it’ll make the outtakes one day.”
Marilla said, “He asked both my mom and my dad. So, he’s a great Christian Southern gentleman, which is one thing I love about him.”
Marilla and White recently spoke to PEOPLE about wedding-planning, with Marilla sharing, “We’re gonna wait until the timing is right.”
“Yes,” White said. “We’re definitely waiting on timing and [to] get through the speed bumps and all that good stuff and get to a point where I can provide for her. And also, we’ve had to keep it secret because of television, and it kinda makes it hard when you have to keep it a secret.”
The couple also spoke about what life is like now that they’re engaged — “We attend church together every Sunday,” Madison said. “We see each other daily.”
White said they “go on lots of dates,” from lunch and movies after church to going to amusement park Busch Gardens.
In another recent interview with Swooon, White said he hopes to “get my music career going off the ground and also be in a place where I can support Madison” before the wedding takes place.
“We’re gonna do premarital counseling, as we’re Christians and we want to have a nice, godly marriage,” Marilla added.
