Warner Bros. axed COYOTE VS. ACME before it ever saw the big screen.
Now the trailer is finally here, three years after the movie’s completed development.
The movie stars Will Forte and John Cena as attorneys as Wile E. Coyote tries to sue the Acme Corporation. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and other Looney Tunes stars will also make an appearance.
The movie was originally developed for HBO Max on a budget of $70 million, Variety reported. At the time, Warner Bros. also cancelled BATGIRL and SCOOB! HOLIDAY HAUNT.
Last year, Ketchup Entertainment bought COYOTE VS. ACME for $50 million. It will release in theaters on Aug. 28.

The movie’s synopsis reads, “After decades of being blown to bits by bombs, demolished by dynamite, mangled by magnets, battered by boulders, trampled by trains, tricked by tunnels, sprung by springs, steamrolled by steamrollers, maligned by misfires, bedeviled by bungees, rattled by rockets, backstabbed by bat suits, rocked by rocket skates, upended by unicycles, quaked by quake pills, rubberized by rogue bands, and hurled headlong off every cliff in the Southwest, Wile E. Coyote finally fights back.”
Forte especially was deeply saddened when he initially heard that Warner Bros. would not air the movie.
He wrote on X, “To the Cast and Crew of COYOTE VS. ACME — I know that a lot of you haven’t gotten a chance to see our movie. And sadly, it’s looking like you never will. When I first heard that our movie was getting ‘deleted,’ I hadn’t seen it yet.”
“So I was thinking what everyone else must have been thinking: this thing must be a hunk of junk. But then I saw it. And it’s incredible.”
He described the movie as funny, emotional and visually interesting.
He said, “As the credits rolled, I just sat there thinking how lucky I was to be a part of something so special. That quickly turned to confusion and frustration. This was the movie they’re not going to release?”
“Look, when it comes to Hollywood business stuff, I don’t know s*** about s***. Even when a movie tests very well (like ours), there’s no guarantee that it’s gonna be a hit,” Forte said. “And at the end of the day, the people who paid for this movie can obviously do whatever they want with it.”
He hated their decision, but and emphasized that the movie is still magnificent.
“You would be so proud of it — a movie that should be seen, but won’t. Please know that all the years and years of hard work, dedication and love that you put into this movie shows in every frame.” Forte signed off, “That’s all folks.”
Per Variety, Forte says he is proud the movie will be released and hopes it reaches a wide audience come August.
