Blake Shelton doesn’t want to completely stop his performances and hustles, but most of the time, he really wants to take things slow.
“I don’t even care if I miss an opportunity by not responding to a text or a phone call,” he said. “It’s really the only way I can maintain some sanity.”
His favorite pace is his farm in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, which he shares with wife Gwen Stefani.
Shelton sat as a judge on THE VOICE for 23 seasons. Once he got a text from his managers that he could sustain his lifestyle without working, he quit the show.
“If you start talking to me about [financial] stuff in a meeting, I start hearing birds chirping in the background. It’s not that I don’t care,” he said. “Maybe it is that I don’t care, actually. I’ve learned over the years to stay in my lane.”
Shelton has six Ole Red bars and restaurants and a production company, Lucky Horseshoe Productions.

“[THE VOICE] was the greatest thing that ever happened to me,” he said. “It was just too good of a job to walk away from, until one day the frustration outweighed everything else.”
After he left, he spent most of 2023 and 2024 doing nothing.
“I just turned it off and went to the house,” he explained. “I don’t think anybody really thought I would indulge like that, when I said I’m going to the farm, and I’m just going to the farm. And that is truly what I did.”
Shelton didn’t record again until Post Malone asked him to the studio, where they recorded “Pour Me a Drink.” He also put out an album last year and has several scripted and unscripted shows in development. He starts his Las Vegas residency next month, while his wife holds shows down at The Sphere.
“I just hope there’s enough people in town that I can at least get a few scraps,” he joked.
He’ll be in Vegas for a while, but he’d rather be at home in his own bed.
“Now that I’ve gotten to this point in my life,” Shelton admitted, “if I’m giving up some time in Oklahoma, it needs to be for something that I know is going to count.”
Wide Open Country reported his massive homestay spans 1,300 acres. It’s also where he and Stefani tied the knot — on their property’s chapel.
This year, he and Stefani hope to grow produce.
Shelton shared on social media in March, “Me and my wife — her name’s Gwen — we were out here putting this plastic out here yesterday. Just she and I, nobody else. It’s hard work, but we’re going to plant vegetables in here to keep the weeds out.”
He showed fans another area: “This is going to be my sweet corn patch this year. I’ve already started working it up a little bit, I’m going to till it a couple more times to get it worked up because spring is almost here, people. Woo!”
For Shelton, it seems the real reward isn’t another hit — it’s the satisfaction of a life he can enjoy on his own terms.
