BATMAN BEGINS follows Bruce Wayne as he gradually becomes Batman and begins his war against the criminals in Gotham City. Expertly made and acted, there is little foul language and no sex, and a very positive noblesse oblige view of Christian responsibility that rebukes false religious notions, but its bleak vision of Gotham City and some action violence make it too intense for children.

DESPICABLE ME is a very witty, heartfelt animated movie about an extremely sinful character transformed by the love of three little girls. The ending to DESPICABLE ME is so uplifting and redemptive that it overshadows some of the action violence, slapstick comedy and light scatological references.

DESPICABLE ME 2 finds the former villain Gru joining the Anti-Villains League to stop a villain who’s turning Gru’s adorable little minions into monsters with a stolen secret formula. DESPICABLE ME 2 is one of the funniest, laugh-out-loud, hilarious, best conceived, well-plotted, most enjoyable movies ever. Every form of villainy is refuted, family is affirmed, doing the right thing is affirmed, and good triumphs.

LEGEND OF THE GUARDIANS is a beautifully crafted, exciting, redemptive animated fantasy of owls who do the right thing, with a rebuke of racism in the evil owls who call themselves “the Pure Ones” and a commitment to believing the truth.

CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS is a very clever, funny and exciting animated tale about an inventor whose new machine changing water into food almost destroys his town. It is a delicious feast for the eyes and the funny bone as well as the heart and mind with a very strong moral worldview that speaks out strongly against gluttony and extols positive family relationships, courage, temperance or self-control, discipline, hard work, and sacrifice.

When a Miami dentist inherits a team of sled dogs in Disney’s new comedy, SNOW DOGS, he’s got to learn the trade or lose his pack to a crusty mountain man. Loaded with great laughs for the kids and compelling and challenging heart issues for adults, SNOW DOGS is very cute and funny.

OVERCOMER is the heartwarming, often funny, poignant story of a young, new track star named Hannah who runs to Christ with the help of a basketball coach. OVERCOMER features a very strong Christian worldview and is filled with many touching, poignant moments.

TULSA is a faith-based drama inspired by true events about a hopeless addict, Tommy Colston who reluctantly invites a faith-filled 9-year-old named Tulsa to live with him since she might actually be his daughter. TULSA is a heartwarming drama with a strong Christian worldview and some comedy to boot, but MOVIEGUIDE® advises caution for older children for alcohol and drug use as well as an implied suicide.
