APOLLO 13

Watch:

What You Need To Know:

Apollo 13 is a patriot can-do America movie that will probably hit a strong emotional nerve at the box office. It tells the familiar story to those of us who lived through that period of the ill fated flight of Apollo 13 which blew out most of its oxygen in space halfway between the earth and the moon and barely made it back to earth. If it were not for the obscenities, profanities and noticeable lack of prayer, it would be a movie that every moral American would love.

More Detail:

Apollo 13 is a patriot can-do America movie that will probably hit a strong emotional nerve at the box office. It tells the familiar story to those of us who lived through that period of the ill fated flight of Apollo 13 which blew out most of its oxygen in space halfway between the earth and the moon and barely made it back to earth. The film starts at a party at Jim and Marilyn Lovell’s house as they are watching Neal Armstrong take that “one giant step” onto the moon. Lovell is willing to wait until his turn on Apollo 14, however a physical ailment to Jim Shepperd, the commander of Apollo 13, moves Jim and his crew up the ladder. Days before the launch, Jim looses his crack pilot, Ken Mattingly, due to measles and Ken is replaced by the philandering Jack Swaggert. They are joined on the crew by Fred Haise. After a successful takeoff, an oxygen tank blows out the side of the spacecraft putting the crew in jeopardy of dying deep in space. In an already known ending, Houston successfully guides them back safely to earth.

This is a well paced exciting movie. It shows teamwork, courage, and determination can overcome the worst of situations. If it were not for the obscenities, profanities and noticeable lack of prayer, it would be a movie that every moral American would love.
