BRAHMS: THE BOY II never gives a final supernatural or theological explanation for the abilities of the creepy doll, which can move its head and eyes, overturn a large table and perhaps even kill. Also, a short epilogue reveals that the doll’s evil spirit has somehow survived, despite the doll’s physical destruction in a previous scene. Thus, although the parents think they’ve defeated and destroyed the doll and its evil spirit, they really haven’t. Very strong but eventually unexplained occult worldview where a creepy porcelain doll seems to be possessed by some kind of evil spirit that can animate the doll’s head and eyes and perhaps its whole body and that may even be able to possess another child, and some moral elements where a family attacked by the doll fights back but, though the family seems to defeat the doll and its evil spirit, the evil spirit survives to continue its evil

Some strong and scary violence includes a boy bullying another boy falls and his shoulder is pierced by a wooden stake, a couple people point a shotgun at another person, the dead bloody corpse of a dog is shown, creepy doll menaces a family and a bullying boy, man knocked unconscious, masked home invaders struggle with a young woman and eventually knock her unconscious, woman has nightmares about being attacked and choked by the masked home invaders, creepy doll’s porcelain face is smashed to reveal an ugly scarred face underneath, mother sees bloody drawings where her son and its doll have murdered a dog and her and her husband, some jump scares, brief discussion of previous murders and suicide, an older couple is shown in a flashback walking into the ocean to commit suicide, etc.

The movie implies that the evil spirit animating the doll can somehow create a dual, schizophrenic personality in the married couple’s son. Also, a short epilogue reveals that the doll’s evil spirit has somehow survived, despite the doll’s physical destruction in a previous scene. Thus, although the parents think they’ve defeated and destroyed the doll and its evil spirit, they really haven’t.
The story in BRAHMS: THE BOY II is ultimately depressing and unsatisfying. Although a couple scenes hint that the son’s mother may be imagining things, that doesn’t seem to be the case at the end. BRAHMS: THE BOY II is abhorrent, because the evil spirit wins in the very end. Perhaps another sequel, however, will carry the story forward and explain the origins of the evil spirit and how it can be destroyed.
