More Detail:

The Pentagon is tense when they learn there is a BROKEN ARROW or lost nuclear warhead somewhere in the Utah desert. Two have been dropped from a stealth bomber, right before the plane blew up. Why were they were dropped? Who is responsible? How to retrieve the bombs before they get in the wrong hands? — These are the questions that will keep the head commanders holding their breath. The bombs must be found and disarmed. Vic Deakins, played by John Travolta, and Hale, played by Christian Slater, are sent on a routine pre-dawn stealth flying mission. Corrupted, Major Deakins distracts Hale and tries to shoot him. Deakins overpowers Hale and ejects him from the plane. Deakins is able to launch the rockets and jumps out of the stealth just as it blows up. It is a fight to the finish as Hale and Deakins fight for control of the remote that can either detonate or disarm the warhead.

The action in BROKEN ARROW is non-stop. The plot asks the question what would happen if a warhead really did get in the hands of someone twisted like Deakins. John Travolta does an outstanding job playing bad-guy Deakins. Christian Slater excels, too, as all-American Hale. However, there are numerous cold-blooded killings throughout the film. People’s lives are taken lightly. Though entertaining, the movie would have been better with fewer obscenities and a lot less bloody violence.
