LITTLE NEMO: ADVENTURES IN SLUMBERLAND begins as Little Nemo falls asleep and journeys into Slumberland. He is welcomed by the people of Slumberland and becomes heir to the King’s throne. Thus, he is entrusted with: (1) the royal Scepter, and (2) a mysterious key that unlocks the “Forbidden Door” of dangerous secrets. Nemo befriends the King’s daughter, Princess Camille, and Flip, a prankster. Flip convinces Nemo to use the key and unlock whatever lurks in the dark. Hesitantly, Nemo unlocks the door and unleashes a demon. The monster kidnaps the King and takes him to Nightmareland, ruled by the Nightmare King. Nemo uses the Royal Scepter to free the king of Slumberland and put an end to the Nightmare World. Nemo returns as a hero and flies away with Princess Camille. Together, they dream on happily ever after.
With brilliant colors, excellent pacing and special effects, LITTLE NEMO: ADVENTURES IN SLUMBERLAND is fun for the whole family. Not only do the characters tug at your heartstrings, but explore issues that are relevant to children, such as temptation and peer pressure. The movie shows that our actions have consequences, and that a forbidden doors may open into trouble. Ultimately, this entertaining allegory may serve as a springboard for the Gospel, though there is some magic present as a plot device.
