MY FELLOW AMERICANS is a tongue-in-cheek look at American politics and features the comical and highly unlikely pairing of two former Presidents and their struggle to reveal the truth about a current White House scandal. President Russell P. Kramer, played by Jack Lemon, and President Matt Douglas, played by James Garner, together try to foil the current President, William Haney , played by Dan Ackroyd. President Haney faces almost certain defeat in the next election if the truth is revealed about his campaign finances. When threat of scandal becomes imminent, President Haney , makes arrangements to pin the scandal on his two rivals, former presidents Kramer, a republican, and Douglas, a democrat.
The backbiting and constant derision between Kramer and Douglas provides a genuinely comic fabric for a very funny movie, which could be called GRUMPY OLD PRESIDENTS. Production values rank near presidential. The excessive foul language and vulgar content are very unfortunate. Through comedy, this movie acts as a misguided call for bi-partisan action to clean up Washington. It is unfortunate that the film succumbs to the political correctness of the pro-homosexual lobby during a Gay Pride Parade. While funny, it does have many obscenities, some pro-homosexual elements and a humanistic worldview. This is an adults only holiday movie.
