More Detail:
The audience meets Janine as she gives insight about her background singing the Anthem. She talks about working in her family’s bagel shop in Long Island, NY, and how her mother always went out of her way when members of the military would stop in the store. This was her first motivation for the journey she would set out on later in life.
Janine moved to Los Angeles to record a CD in 2007. After many tries in the music industry, her career never took off, and she was left trying to figure out what her next venture would be. She then attaches herself to the National Anthem and makes a goal to sing the song in all 50 states in America. When she started her journey in 2012, she already had nine states under her belt from previous performances. She added four states to her list in 2013.
In January 2014, she comes across a license plate with a website about the Anthem. She visits the website and realizes September 14 of 2014 is the 200th anniversary of the National Anthem. She decides she must complete her journey by that date.
The next eight months would be a whirlwind journey of trying to book gigs and self-fund her goal. However, with the help of some national spotlight from an appearance on Fox and Friends, many Americans became aware of her goal and wanted to help. Now, the only question that remains is will she meet her goal by the 200th anniversary of the song?
