The “Family Is Everything” episode of LAST HOPE WITH TROY DUNN is about David Myrom’s desire to find his birth mother. After David is hit by a drunk driver, he comes to the realization life is too short to hold grudges. During the car wreck, the drunk driver, a 19-year-old boy, dies in David’s arms. After this David decides to find his birth mother. He wants to thank her for giving him life and not aborting him. David learns his Mom died almost 15 years ago, but she had four more children. David is reunited with his two blood siblings. They tell him he has two half siblings in Oregon too. In a tear-filled reunion, David’s siblings tell him they always knew he existed and were hopeful for the day they might find him.
“Family Is Everything” is told through voiceovers, giving it a nice documentary feel. Even better, it has a strong Christian, moral worldview showcasing the joy of saying yes to life. David’s mother gave him up for adoption allowing him to grow up in a wonderful, loving family. It’s filled with other positive values, including forgiveness, compassion and marital faithfulness. Caution is advised for young children who may have questions why a mother would abuse her own children.
