While Nate Bargatze is now the hottest comedian in the world, he wants to keep his “everyman” personality authentic, something easier said than done.

“As all this stuff changes for me, it also changes for [my wife] and for our family. And we want to make sure that we stay ‘us’ focused,” Bargatze told The Hollywood Reporter. “We’re a family, and that’s what’s important – none of the other stuff matters.”

His mindset is impressive, considering he has climbed to the top of the comedian world and is working to go even higher. His plan is to do one more tour as a stand-up comedian after he finishes his current one and then fully focus on other forms of entertainment including television, movies and even an amusement park. The comedian’s goal is to become the new Disney, creating family-friendly movies that harken back to Disney’s productions in the ’80s, ’90s, and early 2000s.

“I don’t plan on touring and doing stand-up forever. I want to make movies,” Bargatze told the New York Times. “People think, if you get too big, are you going to change? The audience is very much in mind with everything that I will make. Again, I try not to do it for me. It’s for you. I want them to be able to trust that.”

Bargatze’s first foray into this world comes through his upcoming movie THE BREADWINNER. While he is extremely excited for this change, it’s not come without its difficulties as he shifts away from the format of stand-up that he knows so well.

“It’s going to be hard to make something and then have to wait to see it,” Bargatze previously told Relevant. “I’m used to immediate reactions. Plus, I don’t know the first thing about making a movie. I’m excited to figure it all out – what works, what’s funny, what needs tweaking. It’s going to be a whole new world, and I can’t wait to learn.”

Despite being a newcomer to this form of media, people want to get him onboard their projects.

“Everybody recognizes that he’s this unicorn in the world right now,” said Jason Heyman, a UTA partner who works closely with Bargatze. “He can tap into the left and the right and everyone between the coasts in a way that no one else is, and he’s doing it in a very wholesome, nonthreatening, family-first way.”

Bargatze’s success is a win for families as he hopes to usher in a new era of family-friendly content, which will show Hollywood just how desperate families are for these shows and movies.
