AMERICAN IDOL finalist Breanna Nix says she found freedom after she was baptized.

“I had been carrying rejection, shame and burdens that weren’t mine to hold,” Nix said in recent a social media post that shows pictures of her baptism. “In that water, I left it all behind.”

Nix lives out her faith in real life and on stage. She says she carried hurt throughout her life because she doesn’t have a father.

“The absence of my father has been one of the deepest wounds in my life. For as long as I can remember, it left holes in me—chaos, questions, and struggles I’ve had to wrestle with for years,” Nix shared. “It made me believe I wasn’t enough, that I was unwanted, even unlovable.”

“I carried that heaviness for so long…giving it to God, then picking it up again through the years,” she added.

She shared that she attended a Live Original Sister Conference, hosted by Sadie Robertson Huff. Before the conference, a woman named Emilie told Nix that she had a vision. She knew that a dad would be praying over girls who never received a blessing from a father.

“No one else knew, and heck, she didn’t even know I had father issues.” said Nix. “But God had it all planned.”

That night, a man prayed blessings over women and girls who attended.

Nix said, “Years of weight fall off,” and she “wept harder and more than I think I ever have in my life.” Things she “thought were fully healed were still being remade.”

“I felt God calling me to be baptized again — not because I didn’t know Him, but because I had been carrying rejection, shame, and burdens that weren’t mine to hold. In that water, I left it all behind,” shared Nix.

Nix doesn’t regret it for a second.

“I walked away lighter. Healed. Whole,” she said. “I walked away new. I walked away FREE.”

The woman she met, Emilie, was the one who baptized her.

“God truly works all things out so detailed,” Nix said.

Nix sang many Christian songs on AMERICAN IDOL, including ones by Lauren Daigle, Danny Gokey, Brandon Lake and Katy Nichole.

IDOL mentor Jelly Roll FaceTimed Lake during rehearsals to show off Nix’s vocals.

He said it was “the most gorgeous version of ‘Gratitude’ I’ve ever heard.”

While Nix was in the competition, she said, “I would not be here without salvation. There have been so many times in my life when the devil taunted me with just being dumb, and I am so thankful that God has his hand on me and has kept me safe.”

“I’ve gotten so much closer to God through this experience. I’ve been able to witness to so many people and minister more than I ever thought possible, and God is just truly so good, and he deserves all my praise,” said Nix. “It’s not me. It’s God.”

It’s wonderful that Nix feels a newfound freedom through her re-baptism.
