UNDEAD is very low budget. Some of the low budget photography works well, but it is also often annoying. The storytelling contains some comical, intriguing twists. For example, in a flashback scene, Marion has a hilarious encounter with a zombie fish. Ultimately, however, the gore, violence and frequent “f” words become as annoying as the low-budget photography.

UNDEAD is a low-budget zombie movie from Australia. At times, it is even more graphic and violent than other recent zombie movies, such as LAND OF THE DEAD by the king of zombie movies, George A. Romero. It does, however, have a couple new plot twists and brief light humor.
UNDEAD opens with chunks of a large meteor streaming across the sky of the bucolic Australian town of Berkeley. Some of the chunks actually hit a couple people, who promptly become cannibalistic zombies.
Several people, including the local beauty queen, two frantic cops, a young man, and his pregnant wife, find themselves trapped in a fisherman’s house. Marion the fisherman also has a gun store and uses his stockpile of weapons to dispatch zombies, but the senior cop is a gun control freak because of Australia’s ridiculous new gun laws. Marion believes the zombies are part of an invasion engineered by an alien ship he has encountered. As the group tries to avoid getting killed by the zombies, the aliens finally reveal their true purpose.
