More Detail:

SLOW BURN is the story of one very strange night in the life of District Attorney Ford Cole (Ray Liotta). While running for mayor, Cole’s trusted and beautiful assistant attorney, Nora (Jolene Blaylock), shows up claiming to have been raped by a man she then shot and killed. To Cole’s dismay, a man named Luther (James Todd Smith) shows up at the police station claiming Nora is a murderer and crook working for the city’s lead gangster. Cole goes back and forth trying to get to the truth. As the night wears on, the story twists and turns and flips and flops until one begins to wonder if their own mother is guilty.

Were it not for a few strong profanities and some illicit sex (with nudity) in flashback scenes, this would have passed for a typical television thriller. While Cole comes across as an honest man trying to clean up crime, he is clearly guilty having an affair with Nora. He is disappointed to learn that Nora appears to be having sex with anyone who can help her become rich.

The Bible says, “The wages of sin is death,” and a number of characters in the movie pay the wages. It’s sad to see how many characters in this movie are willing to sell their soul for a few dollars. While Cole comes across as someone you can’t buy, he did fall for the “free” sex offered by Nora and wound up in a position to be blackmailed.

SLOW BURN will burn quickly through the theater circuit and wind up on DVD. The night MOVIEGUIDE(r) reviewed it, the cashier didn’t even know it was playing. It was only scheduled for a single showing that day and sold two tickets. The plot is a little too twisted and it just doesn’t deliver $9 worth of entertainment value even if it didn’t have the sex, nudity and vulgarity that make it unsuitable for audiences.

Pray for filmmakers. So many of them make worthless, immoral movies and obviously do not believe in God. Unless they repent and seek God’s forgiveness, they will one day discover the true meaning of “slow burn.”
