ision show for several years running, deleted the name of Jesus in a song sung by the cast during the show’s charity drive April 9, then put His name back into the song when it was sung again on its April 10 program.
The cast sang the popular Christian song “Shout to the Lord” by Darlene Zschech the first night, but the opening lyrics were changed from “My Jesus, My Savior” to “My Shepherd, My Savior.”
The next night, however, the cast sang the song again, but with the name of Jesus included.
Last year, when one contestant sang the words, “Jesus, take the wheel,” the top-rated show averaged more than 31 million viewers. This season’s contest, however, has seen the ratings drop slightly, to 29.9 million viewers.
