Baehr FAITHFUL FINANCES 101 is
a powerful Christian look at
how believers should deal with
finances. There are many
Christian books, courses and
materials on finances, not
only because Jesus spoke more
about money than he did about
salvation, but also because
people need help with their
finances. Often, these
Christian writers commit the
theological mistake of
eisegesis, or proof-texting,
by taking one particular
biblical statement and making
it the basis for a theory of
economics. FAITHFUL FINANCES
does not do that. Author Gary
Moore, who went from being a
successful financier to
spending many years working
with Sir John Templeton, has
crafted a book that explores
finances in context of a
thoroughly sound theological
approach. Therefore, where
some people may say, "Never
borrow," Gary takes the whole
biblical text and shows when
it is appropriate and when it
is inappropriate. More than
that, he develops a clear,
intelligent perspective toward
the Bible's principles for
economic prosperity. Of
course, that entails not
worshipping money, but putting
money into the right
perspective and understanding
that money is a tool to bless
others. In the process, he
shows what has made Sir John
Templeton one of the most
successful investors ever: he
lives the principle, "It is
more blessed to give than to
receive." The only complaint
that one could make about this
book, which is "must reading,"
is that, in establishing a
comprehensive biblical
perspective, Gary names the
names of those who have
developed less comprehensive
financial advice or who have
other perspectives. It is our
hope that those experts and
pundits will bear with Gary
and his incisive revelations,
and perhaps even consider some
of the points he makes. Those
who are struggling with
finances and want to
understand how to express
God's will in that matter will
want to run out and get a copy
of FAITHFUL FINANCES
