THE PROTECTOR has its moments of spectacular and beautifully shot martial arts fight sequences but even that cannot save it from its dumb storyline. On top of the outlandish fact that the hero must travel to Australia to retrieve his elephants, the movie is edited sloppily, making it very hard to follow. Many of the shots have nothing to do with the scene at hand. This is compounded by the fact that the movie is subtitled and is that much more difficult to understand.

(B, VVV, S, N, A, M) Light moral worldview about a man in Thailand trying to get back his stolen elephants; no foul language; lots of action violence with some blood includes chase scenes, boat chase, many martial arts fight scenes containing 30 to 40 men and many of them get their leg or arm broken with snapping sounds while fighting the hero, and four people get shot; some suggestive content such as mud bath scene with scantily clad women and some exotic dancing; light alcohol use; no smoking; and, gangsters, corruption and kidnapping.

During the movie, a lot of the shots would have nothing to do with the scene at hand, compounded by the fact that the movie is subtitled and that much more difficult to understand.
Then again, I haven’t lost an elephant recently but if I did I may have gone about things a bit differently than destroying half of Australia, all the while yelling, “Where are my elephants!”
