NRB to Bring Film Summit, Speakers, Pitch-a-thon, Screenings to Proclaim 17 in Orlando

For the third consecutive year, National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) will have at its annual convention the Film & Entertainment Summit, which will feature industry executives covering topics including directing, acting, screenwriting, marketing, and more.

Among the speakers at the March 1 summit will be actor Corbin Bernsen, creative executive DeVon Franklin, media authority Ted Baehr, filmmaker Lionel Chetwynd, film producer Sam Haskell III, film production veteran Michael Scott, and director/showrunner Dave Alan Johnson.

Other film and entertainment industry speakers at the broader, four-day NRB International Christian Media Convention, Proclaim 17, include communications maven Phil Cooke, acting/filmmaking couple Kevin and Sam Sorbo, and Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Executive Producer of the upcoming movie Let There Be Light.

“If you are a Christian working in the film and entertainment industry, or if you’re an aspiring filmmaker, this is the event for you,” said NRB President & CEO Dr. Jerry A. Johnson. “Our event offers unique face-to-face networking opportunities, as well as invaluable insights from those who have found much success in Hollywood.”

Also returning this year is the popular NRB Pitch-a-thon, which gives participants a chance to pitch their story, script, or even a finished product to two different distributors. In the three years since NRB began hosting the Pitch-a-thon, a number of scripts have been purchased and a number of participants have received offers for distribution for their films.

Additionally, Proclaim 17 will feature four film screenings: The Case for Christ, the true story of Lee and Leslie Strobel, whose marriage struggled as her growing faith collided with his determined atheism (Lee Strobel will offer remarks at the screening); Mully, which depicts the extraordinary rags-to-riches story of Charles Mully, whose meteoric rise from orphaned poverty in Kenya leads him on an unimaginable journey of selflessness; Because of Grácia, a movie about four young people and the choices they make that will change their lives forever; and Let There Be Light, an upcoming faith-based film about a world-famous atheist who finds his purpose and re-imagines his life after a near-death experience.

Proclaim 17 will also have multiple showings of Jesus VR, which depicts the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ through the exciting new format of virtual reality.
