SUPER TROOPERS 2

"Lawless Lustful Lawmen, Part Deux"

What You Need To Know:

SUPER TROOPERS 2 is a sequel to a raunchy 2002 comedy. In the new movie, five drug-addled, prankster former highway patrolmen from Vermont are re-hired by the state to police a Canadian town that authorities have determined is really part of Vermont and America. When they and their former boss get to the town, however, they meet stiff resistance from the townspeople, who hate America. They even meet resistance from the Canadian Mounties they are supposed to replace.

SUPER TROOPERS 2 is a little better made than the first movie. Once again, it stars the member of a comedy troupe calling itself Broken Lizard. However, it still contains abundant foul language, crude sexual references, explicit nudity, mean pranks, and drug abuse. For example, obscenities fly almost constantly from every character’s mouth. Also, the patrolmen find some illegal drugs that three young boys found and ingested. The patrolmen each try one of the drugs to determine the identity of the illegal drugs. SUPER TROOPERS 2 also contains some unanswered politically correct insults from the Canadians about America and its laws, culture and people.

More Detail:

SUPER TROOPERS 2 is a sequel to a raunchy 2002 comedy. In the new movie, five drug-addled, prankster former highway patrolmen from Vermont are re-hired by the state to police a Canadian town that authorities have determined is really part of Vermont and America, but they meet resistance from the townspeople. SUPER TROOPERS 2 is a very uneven comedy with abundant foul language, explicit nudity, lots of lewd content, many jokes about drug abuse, and some politically correct attacks against America and its laws and culture.

In the first movie, which only made about $18.5 million at the box office but has gained a following in the intervening years, the five highway patrolmen lost their jobs but replaced the police department in a small Vermont town when they exposed the local police as being involved in drug smuggling. As the new movie opens, the five men have lost their jobs again and are working construction.

After a crazy dream sequence, the female governor of Vermont appears to tell the boys and their former boss, Captain O’Hagan, she wants to re-hire them. She informs them it’s been determined that a town across the Canadian border is actually in United States territory. She orders them to establish an office in the town and work with the town’s three local Canadian Mounties in the transition.

However, when they arrive in the town and make a local lodge their new headquarters, the men encounter resistance from the townspeople, who hate America and mock American laws and culture. The three Mounties also resent having to help the American officers. When they lure a bear into the American’s headquarters and lock the door with a hockey stick, the men decide to take revenge. They kidnap the Mounties, disrobe them, paint them red, white and blue, and leave them in the woods overnight. The next morning, they pose as the Mounties and play all sorts of tricks and pranks on the town and the tourists driving through to ruin the reputation of the Mounties.

When their scheme backfires, they’re on the verge of being fired again. Their only way out is to discover who’s behind a drug-smuggling ring in the area.

SUPER TROOPERS 2 is a little better made than the first movie. Once again, it stars the member of a comedy troupe calling itself Broken Lizard. However, it still contains abundant foul language, crude sexual references, explicit nudity, mean pranks, and drug abuse by the five highway patrolmen. For example, obscenities fly almost constantly from every character’s mouth. Also, there’s a visit to a brothel of nude women and men owned by the mayor of the Canadian town, who’s played by Rob Lowe. Finally, the five American patrolmen sample one of the five illegal pills they find, to determine the identity of the illegal drugs being smuggled. One of the men takes a smuggled female hormone pill that causes him to act more like a woman. By the end of the movie, his breasts are lactating.

There’s only a limited amount of clean comedy in SUPER TROOPERS 2. Perhaps the funniest, cleanest scene is when two of the guys, posing as Canadian Mounties, speak French to two American tourists in a car. The French they speak is nothing but a nonsensical string of French phrases that Americans usually hear in their everyday lives, on the news and in American culture. It’s admittedly pretty funny.

Like the first movie, the five American patrolmen are portrayed as lawless pranksters. The new movie, however, inserts some politically correct Canadian insults mocking American traditions, culture and habits, including insults hurled at the Second Amendment and an Anti-American insult defending Canada’s socialist healthcare system, which is now being partially privatized because it doesn’t work as well as first claimed. Of course, the movie doesn’t mention that last fact. Also, none of the Anti-American slurs are really refuted.

Media-wise moviegoers will want to avoid subjecting themselves and their friends and families to SUPER TROOPERS 2.
