White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany shared her prayer to Twitter ahead of the polls closing on Tuesday evening.

!REMINDER! The best indicator of who we are and what we believe is by how we act and what we do. We want to remind you to LOVE MORE. ♥️ Christ commands us to love our neighbors. We are citizens of the Kingdom of God before our citizenship to the USA and this world. Because of that we can shift the heaviness and anxiety of our world onto Jesus, and from there engage with a sound mind and a calm spirit. Yes, elections are very important, and they matter, but our HOPE is in Jesus. LOVE MORE this week and act like ambassadors for His Kingdom. 🙌🏼 The Psalmist reminds us of this in Psalms 146: Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish. Happy is he who has the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope is in the Lord his God, Who made heaven and earth, The sea, and all that is in them; Who keeps truth forever, Who executes justice for the oppressed, Who gives food to the hungry. The Lord gives freedom to the prisoners. The Lord opens the eyes of the blind; The Lord raises those who are bowed down; The Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the strangers; He relieves the fatherless and widow; But the way of the wicked He turns upside down. The Lord shall reign forever— Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!

I honestly thought voting this year would feel more somber than years past, more of simply an obligation, a duty. We can all agree, it’s been a tough year. I don’t want to take anything away from the seriousness of the day, the knowledge that no matter who wins, the other half of the country will have to come to terms with living with an administration that was not of their choosing. But I’ve gotta say that just like every other year I’ve walked into that voting booth my overwhelming feeling was thankfulness. I’m thankful that I live in a country where I get to vote, and where my vote actually matters. Thankful for all of the people and laws on the ballot that we have a say in electing and deciding. Thankful for the system that is set up so that even if it doesn’t go the way I thought was best, that every 4 years we get to do this again. Thankful that I got to go with my daughter-in-law and sweet grand baby, that the sun was shining, and as we stood there my grandmother (I’m going to have to ask her how many elections she’s voted in, she’s 89!) and aunt and uncle joined the line just behind us. Thankful to catch up with friends/neighbors that I’ve known for years, and to say hi to new friends I’ve grown to love this past year. Thankful for the friendly strangers in line with us who smiled as John Shepherd practiced his walking holding mine and @marykaterob hands as we waited in the line that went around the parking lot. I pray that we don’t take for granted the rights and opportunities we have as American citizens. I pray that we will love one another, and hope that when the votes are counted, we will all commit to praying for whoever is leading our country these next 4 years, whether it was the ones we cast our vote for or not.
