60 MINUTES Slammed After Sharing the Truth About the Trans Agenda

By Movieguide® Staff

The LGBTQ community expressed their anger over a recent 60 MINUTES segment on CBS that highlighted the stories of detransitioners and the danger of transgender medicalization.

Detransitioners are individuals who abandoned their transgender identity and want to live as their biological sex.

The segment comes after the promotion of several state legislations that would prohibit and restrict experimental medications and cosmetic gender surgery on minors.

CBS’s coverage of the issue could mark a shift in the transgender debate.

“I didn’t get enough pushback on transitioning. I went for two appointments and after the second one, I had my letter to go get on cross-sex hormones,” said a young man named Garrett from Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Garrett continued by saying that while many transgender advocates claim that the lack of an opportunity to transition results in higher suicide rates, he experienced more severe depression post-surgery.

“I had never really been suicidal before until I had my breast augmentation,” Garrett said. “And about a week afterward, I wanted to actually kill myself. I had a plan and I was going to do it but I just kept thinking about my family to stop myself.”

Grace Lidinsky-Smith, who transitioned and detransitioned in less than one year, noted that her change in identity made her question who she was as a human rather than giving her assurance.

“I can’t believe I transitioned then detransitioned, including hormones and surgery, in the course of like, less than one year,” Lidinsky-Smith said. “[I] started to have a really disturbing sense that, like, a part of my body was missing, almost a ghost limb feeling about being like, there’s something that should be there.”

However, prominent LGBTQ leaders slammed CBS for the segment.

“Lesley Stahl [who conducted the interviews on 60 MINUTES, Alexandra Poolos, and Collette Richards knew exactly the harm they were causing with last night’s segment. They knew it was the wrong moment and a dangerous, unaccountable and limited angle. But they did it anyway. That’s on all of you,” Chase Strangio, a transgender activist and attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union, tweeted

The Christian Post reported

Screenshots captured by the trans-critical website 4thWaveNow.com revealed Dr. Johanna Olson-Kennedy, one of the most infamous pediatric gender doctors globally, voicing her dismay in the comments section Wednesday on a post in the International Transgender Health Facebook page. She allegedly wrote that “so many of us worked hard to dissuade” CBS from airing the segment on detransitioners and referred to the network’s decision to run it anyway as a “shameful” ploy for ratings.

Olson-Kennedy, who heads a youth transgender clinic at Children’s Hospital-Los Angeles, is a gender doctor among the recipients of a $5.7 million National Institutes of Health research grant. In one of her publications, it shows that mastectomies have been done on girls as young as 13. In a video clip that continues to be circulated online, Olson-Kennedy is seen on tape insisting adolescents have the capacity to make life-altering decisions, including having their breasts removed.

“And here’s the other thing about chest surgery: If you want breasts at a later point in your life, you can go and get them,” she says in the video.

A 2017 progress report on the NIH grant that was unearthed through a Freedom of Information Act request by concerned doctors revealed that for Olson-Kennedy’s experimental study at CHLA, the minimum age for cross-sex hormones in youth was lowered from 13 to 8.

Despite the intense backlash, 60 MINUTE interviewer Stahl stood by CBS’s decision to cover the story.

“Their point is that they were not getting proper healthcare,” Stahl said. “That was their point and that’s the point we wanted to emphasize: that these were young people that were not getting proper healthcare advice.”

Those critical of the transgender movement, specifically its focus on the medicalizing of gender in minors, note that telling the stories of detransitioners is a pivotal moment in the conversation.

Despite what transgender advocates want people to believe, there is a growing population of people who have left the LGBTQ lifestyle to find their identities in Christ.

Jefferey McCall, the founder of the Freedom March and former transgender, is excited to march for those who detransition and point people to a lasting identity found only in Christ.

“Freedom March is a diverse group of Jesus followers who have been delivered from LGBTQ identities. Our mission is to share, gather, and activate. We accomplish this mission by sharing testimonies of freedom, as we gather together in local cities, calling the body of Christ to activation in loving their LGBTQ neighbor with the truth of transformation,” the nonprofit’s mission reads

Although there is inevitable backlash from their marches, which has grown from its original location in D.C. to Orlando, LA, and St. Paul.

“The movement has grown so much. We are just continuing to share the testimonies of people who have left LGBTQ lifestyles to follow Jesus. We continue this movement, but with new people getting to share every year,” McCall told Charisma News ahead of their June 5 march date. “When we come united, it’s like the power of the blood of Jesus goes before us, and principalities can’t do anything. Whether we contend in cities with spiritual powers or not, we know that we have the victory, and we walk in with our heads high knowing Jesus chose us, and we walk out of that city knowing we have accomplished what God destined us to do in that city.”

Thank you CBN for letting us share about upcoming Freedom March! Please share to help spread the word!
