Netflix just shared a first look at the highly-anticipated LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE reboot!
“The Ingalls family is on their way,” the streamer captioned a photo of the family and their covered wagon. “LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE premieres July 9 and the series has been officially renewed for Season 2!”
The caption continued, “Starring Alice Halsey as Laura, Luke Bracey as Charles, Crosby Fitzgerald as Caroline, and Skywalker Hughes as Mary.”

“I’m incredibly grateful to our wonderful cast and crew, who put their hearts and hard work into making our first season come alive,” showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine said in a statement for Netflix. “We can’t wait to share this new adaptation of the Little House books with the world, and we’re thrilled that Netflix is giving us the opportunity to continue the story.”
Jinny Howe, Netflix’s head of US and Canada scripted series, added, “We are delighted to renew this beautiful reimagining of LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE for a second season ahead of its Netflix debut.”
“The exceptional work by Rebecca Sonnenshine and the entire cast and crew on Season 1 has established a rich foundation of storytelling for years to come,” Howe continued. “With its hopeful spirit and emotional authenticity, we’re confident that LITTLE HOUSE will deliver even more of what fans truly love.”
The cast is equally excited about being part of the show.
Last year, Hughes celebrated her casting as Mary on Instagram, writing, “I am so thankful for this! I’ve loved the Little House books since I was very young and little me would absolutely die of excitement! Big me is sooooo excited too! Thank you to the entire Little House team for trusting me to take care of Mary! I Absolutely will! This project has my whole heart!!!!”
Halsey, who will play Laura, also posted about the show, writing, “I love all of the Little House books so much, and I’m so excited and grateful to get to bring Laura to life! Thank you so much to the Little House creative team for putting your faith in me.”
Melissa Gilbert, who played Laura in the beloved 1974-1983 series adaptation of the books, shared her excitement about the upcoming new series.
“I’m hoping, and from what I understand, is that the remake will hew closer to the books than we did,” she told PEOPLE. “There’s a lot of information and beautiful stories to mine from the actual writings of Little House.”
LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE fans can’t wait to see what the reboot has in store this summer!
