Chip and Joanna Gaines Prepare for Cable Launch of New Magnolia Network

As the media shifts from traditional television broadcast to the industry’s top streamers, Chip and Joanna Gaines are pressing ahead with their plans for the Magnolia Network to replace cable TV’s DIY network come Jan. 5, 2022.
Despite delays and changes to the couple’s plan due to COVID-19, they are excited to kick off their new cable network with FIXER UPPER: WELCOME HOME.
“On the heels of our successful digital launch this past July, we are excited to fulfill our initial goal of bringing Magnolia Network to the broadest audience possible, meeting viewers wherever they are,” global president of Magnolia, Allison Page, said in a statement.
Due to the pandemic, Chip and Joanna launched their new Magnolia series on Discovery Plus and the Magnolia app earlier this year.

Although the COVID-19 era showed the prospect of streaming for the future of television, traditional cable shows still generate hundreds of millions of dollars and provide another avenue for marketing.
The Gaines’ new network will also feature episodes from MAGNOLIA TABLE WITH JOANNA GAINES, RESTORATION ROAD WITH CLINT HARP, HOME WORK, THE LOST KITCHEN, FAMILY DINNER, THE JOHNNYSWIM SHOW, SUPER DAD, and more.
“It wasn’t long ago that watching TV meant time together as a family. It was a place where people of all ages could gather and be informed, entertained, and inspired by the kind of honest, authentic programming that brings people closer,” Chip and Joanna Gaines said in a statement. “We can’t wait to see these stories brought to life on cable this January, and we’re hopeful about the impact it might have — to help reclaim the best of what television can be.”
Previous subscribers to the DIY Network will automatically receive access to the Magnolia Network on its launch date of Jan. 5.
