Tim Tebow Mourns the Death of Former Teammate: ‘I’ll Be Remembering Him for His Kindness And Love’

Tim Tebow shared a tribute to former NFL teammate Demaryius Thomas after authorities found the wide receiver dead in his home on Thursday, Dec. 9.
“Woke up and saw the really devastating news about my teammate and friend, Demaryius Thomas,” Tebow tweeted. “So many are going to remember him for his athletic ability…but I’ll be remembering him for his kindness, his smile that would light up a room, and the love he had for those in his life.”

Tebow encouraged his followers to pray for Thomas’ family and team in a later tweet.
“Please join me in prayer for the Thomas family,” he said.
According to Roswell Police Department Public Information Officer Tim Lupo, Thomas’s death was due to a medical issue.
“Preliminary information is that his death stems from a medical issue, and our investigators currently have no reason to believe otherwise,” Lupo told the Associated Press.
Later, Thomas’ cousin LaTonya Bonseigneur said that the former Denver Bronco had suffered multiple seizures over the past year.
“He had been suffering from seizures for over a year,” she said. “And we believe he had a seizure when he was showering. We’re not sure when he died. We just spoke with him yesterday.”
Thomas was 33 years old.
Both current and past teams shared tributes to Thomas and his impact on and off the field.
“A brilliant career on the field with a light that always shone brighter off of it,” a statement from his current team, the New York Jets, read. “Gone way too soon. But your impact remains. Rest in peace, Demaryius.”
The Broncos captioned a longer statement on Twitter: “We are devastated and completely heartbroken. Demaryius’ humility, warmth, kindness and infectious smile will always be remembered by those who knew him and loved him.”
