Mickey Guyton, Gospel Duo Mary Mary to Headline Super Bowl Pre-Game Ceremony

The NFL confirmed country artist Mickey Guyton, R&B singer Jhene Aiko, Gospel duo Mary Mary and the Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles as headliners to kick off a patriotic and faith-filled start to Super Bowl LVI.
Grammy award-winning Guyton will sing the National Anthem, followed by Aiko, who will perform “America the Beautiful.”
“Look at God. I am shook, I am grateful, I am praise dancing… So excited to be singing the national anthem at #SBLVI on February 13th!” Guyton announced on Twitter.
Erica Campbell and Tina Atkins-Campbell comprise the contemporary Gospel duo, Mary Mary, who will team with the Youth Orchestra of LA for “Lift Every Voice and Sing.”
The chorus reads: “I sing about what he’s done / For me it’s been so much / That I couldn’t even tell if I tried / I sing just to let the whole world know / That we all got something to / Be grateful for so lift your voice.”
The sisters are candid about their imperfections and how faith is integral to their lives.
In an interview advertising their WEtv series from 2012, they shared how growing up in Los Angeles shaped their relationship and faith.
“We’re real sisters. We’re black sisters with egos and strong personalities. But what we do know is that our mission and message is much bigger than that,” Erica said at the time.
Tina agreed, noting that their main goal is to praise God through their music.
“I think people have a misconception of what a Christian is. I don’t know, some think we buy Christian soap, or go to like Christian restaurants,” Tina said. “Everybody thinks we’re so spiritual, but that’s not the case. We’re gospel artists, but we make mistakes. We’re normal people who praise God and everybody will get to see that on the show.”
“Don’t put me up higher than what I’m supposed to be because I’m going to let you down,” Tina said. “I’m not perfect. I don’t have all the answers,” she continued. “It’s not always a storybook life. It’s OK to fall and get back up. It’s OK to get back up and repent. It’s OK to work hard and get it right.
“For us, our whole goal is to reach people. We just don’t want to sing in a church. We want to sing to everybody. We want to have an impact on people in so many different ways.”
The pre-game ceremonies will also include a unique flyover in honor of the Air Force’s 75th Anniversary and feature a P-51 Mustang, A-10C Thunderbolt II, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-22 Raptor, and a F-35A Lightning II.
