By Movieguide® Contributor
The Property Brothers are celebrating a major milestone — it’s been ten years since they launched their home improvement show PROPERTY BROTHERS, and become household names.
Jonathan Scott posted a screenshot of a Most Powerful Producers in Unscripted TV list made by the Hollywood Reporter. He and his brother Drew come in at 27.
The article branded the Scott brothers “the de facto faces” of HGTV and listed some of the projects they’ve had a hand in, including THE NATE & JEREMIAH HOME PROJECT and THE GREAT GIVEBACK.
“Thank you so much @hollywoodreporter for the nod,” Jonathan wrote in his Instagram caption. “Can’t believe @Scottbrothers is celebrating 10 years already of entertaining and inspiring audiences.”
He continued, “It takes a village of incredibly talented people to put this all together and we have the best network partners. And to our audiences… thank you for letting us into your homes and hearts.”
Movieguide® previously reported on the Scott Brothers’ move to HBOMax, along with other HGTV stars:
Popular Discovery+ unscripted series PROPERTY BROTHERS, CHOPPED and HOLIDAY BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP are moving to HBO Max.
The show’s move comes ahead of future plans to merge the two platforms.
Deadline reported:
The combined HBO Max and Discovery+ service is coming sooner than expected.
Warner Bros. Discovery President and CEO David Zaslav revealed that the new service will launch in the U.S. in spring 2023. It was previously set to launch in summer 2023.
The company added nearly 3M global direct to consumer subscribers in its latest quarter.
“We expect a healthy inflection with the launch of our combined service and expanded global footprint. With that we are excited to announce that we have moved up our U.S. launch date from summer of 2023 to spring. We’ve been very hard at work. We can make the service available to consumers around the globe and get the business running on all cylinders,” he said on the company’s Q3 earnings call.
The move also will boost the availability of family-friendly, unscripted series.
