Kathie Lee Gifford and Sheila Walsh reflected on the powerful impact of Jesus’ crucifixion.

“You know who had the worst death ever was Jesus? Do you know that when the Romans designed the crucifixion…they didn’t crucify them far away?” Gifford said. “They crucified them along the main road into Jerusalem.”

They were completely naked — stripped of absolutely everything, including their dignity — and were cruelly tortured.

“They were at eye level to the travelers. Eye level, so that you’d see the agony as they suffered and died. That was Rome’s message. The Jews didn’t crucify; only the Romans did,” Gifford explained.

The Romans did it as a message to travelers not to break their laws, or they’d face terrible consequences.

In “the 16th century Martin Luther wrote…that the way they executed, the person that was executed in the middle was perceived to be the ringleader,” Walsh said. “The worst of the worst. So those who were coming in for Passover, seeing, would look at Jesus and think, ‘He’s the worst of the worst,’ and he was willing to take on that so that we can know the best of the best, which is our life with him.”

Gifford writes about Jesus’ impact in her books, The God of the Way, The Jesus I Know and more.

She credits her faith for making her who she is today.

“I’d be in an insane asylum without Jesus,” she previously told Fox News Digital. “I’ve been through a lot of crappy stuff in my life. I’ve been blessed beyond belief as well.”

“But I’ve had a lot of things that ended up being very public too, that would have put me away for a long time and done a lot of damage to my family, to my everything,” she said. “I was already holding Jesus’ hand. When you go through the kinds of things that I went through in the last, you know, 20 years, you just cling. You just cling tighter.”

Gifford has a deep personal relationship with Christ and wishes that for everyone.

“He adapts his love to each one of us who comes to him and says, ‘Show me, Lord,’” she said. “He will let us walk down different paths, knowing that it’s not a new path to him. It’s not a surprise to him. He knows it’s the one you need.”

Jesus committed the world’s most powerful sacrifice when He died on that cross. Thanks to Him, we have assurance and hope that we will be saved if we repent and follow Him.
