Kel Mitchell, beloved for his role on Nickelodeon’s ’90s show KENAN & KEL, uses his platform to encourage others in their walks with the Lord.

“Sunday snapshots from teen church 🙏🏾✨,” he began in an Instagram post accompanied by photos and videos from church. “We talked about how the oil of God is like the oil on a duck’s feathers — keeping us waterproof from the harshness of life. Just as the duck stays dry no matter how many waves crash, His anointing keeps us covered, protected, and unshaken. 🦆💧”

Mitchell then quoted Psalm 23:5, which says, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”

He concluded his post by encouraging others to attend church.

“This is your reminder — join us for church this Sunday! @myspiritfood 🧡🙌🏾”

People in the comment section expressed gratitude for the encouragement.

“Mr. @iamkelmitchell it’s an honor watching you on nickelodeon during my childhood and now seen that you’ve given your life to the Lord. God bless you,” one person said. Another fan added, “Please keep up the great work, Kel! You were the funniest thing I saw on TV as a kid in the 90’s and it’s great to witness what you’ve grown into!”

Mitchell is a pastor at Spirit Food Christian Center in Winnetka, California.

“When Kel is not acting, writing or directing, he speaks to youth on a weekly basis across the country encouraging them to love God and follow their dreams,” his bio on the church’s website reads.

The actor previously shared that although he was raised in a Christian home, it wasn’t until he was older that he developed a relationship with God.

“I’ve always known God,” Mitchell told Fox News Digital in 2022, sharing that he “grew up in a church,”

“There’s a difference between knowing God and having a relationship with God. And I just got to a point in my life where I wanted to make sure that He was in everything that I do. Because when I was trying to figure out everything on my own, I got into a lot of frustration and situations.”

He explained “You need to know that you’re loved by God and you were born for a purpose. When I figured that out, I wanted others to know that as well because He was always there for me in the ups and downs of my life.”

It’s encouraging to see a public figure like Mitchell use his platform for God’s glory.
