TOP GUN: MAVERICK Sets Streaming Record for Paramount+

TOP GUN: MAVERICK, starring Tom Cruise, just added another accolade to its long list of accomplishments — it’s now the most-watched movie on Paramount+.
The movie beat out the old champ, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2, by 60%.
TOP GUN: MAVERICK also beat out other Tom Cruise movies offered on the platform, including the original TOP GUN and the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE movies.
Something that might have helped boost views is the number of people who are now using Paramount+. The streamer is offering a 50% discount for subscription plans until January 2.
The movie is also Paramount’s highest-grossing movie of all time. Movieguide® previously reported:

The movie starring Tom Cruise as Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell just passed $600 million in North American ticket sales—a milestone that only 12 other movies have ever reached.
TOP GUN: MAVERICK is still in theaters, and is hugely popular, so it seems likely the movie will keep moving up the list of highest-grossing movies.
Paramount Pictures is also celebrating because TOP GUN: MAVERICK has surpassed the first run of TITANIC, making it the studio’s highest-grossing film in its 110 years of making movies.
“For 110 years, Paramount Pictures has produced and distributed some of the most iconic films in Hollywood history, including the all-time classic TITANIC, which marks its 25th anniversary this year,” said Brian Robbins, Paramount’s president and CEO. “TOP GUN: MAVERICK is a phenomenal motion picture, and we take deep pride in celebrating this tremendous achievement alongside Tom Cruise, our filmmakers and cast, our marketing and distribution teams and, of course, all the new and original TOP GUN fans, without whom this wouldn’t have been possible.”
