Singer Ryan Adams Thanks God for Sobriety Amid Health Issues

Singer-songwriter Ryan Adams canceled his solo tour due to ongoing health issues, crediting God for helping him stay sober.

“Behind the scenes…I have been struggling with my health,” Adams told his fans in an Instagram photo of the announcement. “My sobriety has been my anchor and as year two approaches I thank God for that clarity.”

Adams said, “For me to be at my best, I have to recover from what has been a relentless spell of illness. As a result my solo shows for this year are postponed.”

“Thank you for making all the shows last year and this so incredibly special. It’s been all the dreams at once and even on the toughest of nights you have made it a dream,” he added.

“We will reschedule as many of those shows as possible for 2024,” the singer continued. “I am so sorry to all the folks who have already bought tickets and we’re excited for the solo shows. I love you all. Thank you for being my rock.”

Adams didn’t reveal what health issues he is currently dealing with, but a recent post suggests he may be struggling with Meniere’s Disease.

“Thank you for the love on what was by far my most #menieresdisease sick show. The love was all around me tonight and the good people here didn’t let up. God bless you all,” he wrote.

Us Weekly reported that the singer previously had to take a break from music for two years due to his struggle with Meniere’s Disease. The disease is serious and affects the inner ear.

The Things reported, “Adams said that he would never get better. He said, ‘it’s a degenerative disease, and it’s not curable. It happens and you deal. You can change your life to try to get on top of it, which is what I’ve done.’”

Movieguide® also recently reported on singer Jake Owen’s sobriety journey:

“317 days ago I embarrassed myself after drinking too much alcohol one night,” the singer wrote.

“It wasn’t the first time either,” Owen added. “The next day I told myself, ‘Never again.’ I am better than that, and the people I love the most deserve better. My family, my little girls and my friends. Just wanted to share my journey in case anyone woke up this morning and wants to make a change. None of us are perfect. I’m just trying to be the best version of myself these days.”
