Nate Bargatze’s Nashville Attendance Record Can’t Be Broken For This Hilarious Reason

Comedian Nate Bargatze had everyone in stitches when he explained why his Nashville Arena attendance record would never be broken.
Bargatze broke the venue’s all-time attendance record during a comedy set earlier this year, selling out to 19,365 people. The previous record, set by country star Morgan Wallen, was 19,292 and had been set only a month before Bargatze broke it.
Wanting to keep the record for a much longer time, Bargatze stole a chair from the arena on his way out, lowering the space’s capacity.
“He cracked everybody up when he told us it was a sold-out crowd at Bridgestone Arena and by taking a chair nobody could ever break his record,” professional golfer Brandt Snedeker said at the 2023 Sneds & Friends Pro-Am golf tournament. “That’s pretty much what I expected out of him.”
“I was just trying to secure my spot in history,” Bargatze joked. “You don’t get a lot of chances like that as a comic because the music acts are so big. So I was like, ‘Maybe I’ll just take a chair,’ and I did. As long as they don’t throw another chair in there, I should be good.”
As for Bargatze’s performance at Bridgestone Arena, it was a dream come true for the Tennessee native.
“When I started comedy, I would find myself daydreaming about coming home to play Bridgestone, but never really thinking it would happen,” he said. “It will take me a while to wrap my head around it. All the people coming to the show, I can never repay you for allowing me to get to this point. Thank you, Thank you, and Thank you.”
“It is incredible to have someone from Middle Tennessee who grew up coming to Bridgestone Arena to watch events be able to come here and perform for the largest crowd we’ve ever hosted,” said Bridgestone Arena’s EVP of Entertainment and Venues, David Kells.
“I am beyond overwhelmed by the support of my hometown,” he posted on Instagram at the time. “Thank you, Nashville! I love you all.”
Bargatze’s nationwide “Be Funny” tour continues through the end of the year.

Earlier this year, Bargatze fulfilled his most lofty dream, headlining Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena in April. Though is highest goal has now been fulfilled, Bargatze has no plans of slowing down. He hopes to create a comedy empire – similar to that of Adam Sandler.
“I’m a giant, giant fan of what [Sandler] does,” Bargatze said. “I want to create the world that he has created with his movies. That’s what we’re trying to do with Nateland. He’s a huge inspiration for me.”
While this may seem like an outlandish goal, Bargatze is working hard to make it happen. The last couple years have shown him that his most impossible dreams can come true. Now that his fantasy of performing at Bridgestone Arena has come true, why not reach for something even greater.
